ISLAMABAD:

A nine-member mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is set to arrive in Pakistan tomorrow (Monday) for an economic review ahead of the next $1 billion tranche from a $7 billion bailout package approved in August 2023.

According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, the IMF delegation, led by Nathan Porter, will remain in Pakistan for two weeks until March 15. During this period, it will first hold technical discussions, followed by policy-level negotiations with Pakistani authorities.

The delegation will also present recommendations for the next fiscal year’s budget. Any relief for the salaried class will be subject to IMF approval.

The IMF mission will engage in negotiations with officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Planning, and the State Bank of Pakistan.

Discussions will also be held with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), and other relevant institutions and ministries.
