(WHTM) – Incumbent Republican Congressman Lloyd Smucker will face political newcomer Jim Atkinson in November’s election for Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District.

Both candidates ran unopposed in the April 23 primary election.

Mr. Smucker has been a member of the Assembly since 2017 after serving in the state Senate for more than seven years. A native of Lancaster County, he owned the Smucker Company, a commercial construction company, and served in local government as a township supervisor and planning commission member.

Currently a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Smucker’s House website states that he “supports America’s free enterprise system, expands apprenticeship and technical education opportunities for students, and provides retirement benefits for hardworking Americans.” “We are fighting to help people save money.”

Conversely, Mr. Atkinson describes himself as a “career airline pilot” who lives in Lancaster and is raising three young children.

Atkinson’s campaign website states, “I want my children to inherit the kind of America I grew up in, an America where dreams come true and where the future is very worrying given the current political climate.” it is written like this.

Atkinson entered the race late and had not reported any donations as of Dec. 31. David Baker ran unopposed in the Democratic primary because he was unable to secure enough signatures to appear on the ballot.

The general election is November 5th.
