Harmanpreet Kaur said she is looking forward to watching India and Pakistan take on each other in the Women’s Asia Cup on Friday, July 19. The highly anticipated clash will be played out at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on the first day of the tournament. India have a strong record of 11 wins and 3 losses against Pakistan in WT20Is, with their most recent win coming in the 2023 T20 World Cup at Newlands in Cape Town.
Harmanpreet said that while it is important to focus on the match against Pakistan, the women’s team also needs to strategise for the other matches. Besides Pakistan, India also have Nepal and the United Arab Emirates in their group.
“It’s always fun playing against Pakistan but every team is important. Whenever we play we always want to play good cricket and we will continue with the same approach,” Harmanpreet said at the pre-match press conference.

“Every game is important”
The India captain said the Asia Cup is the perfect platform for India to prepare for the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh later this year.
“This tournament is very important for all of us because we all have equal respect for it and want to improve not just at the Asian level but also at the global level. So, our focus remains the same as we prepare for the T20 World Cup and any other World Cup. Every match is important for us and we will try to give our best,” Harmanpreet said.
“The challenge is to continue doing the right things we have done in past Asia Cups, keep playing the same type of cricket, keep dominating other teams and enjoy playing cricket,” she added.
Harmanpreet’s India are the most successful team in the history of the Asia Cup. They are also the defending champions, having beaten Sri Lanka in the final of the last tournament in 2022.
