India vs Pakistan: The Indian champions team defeated the Pakistan champions team by five wickets in a thrilling match in the World Championship of Legends 2024 final at Edgbaston on Saturday.
Yuvraj Singh’s Indian team clinched the coveted title in a match that was closely fought till the end. The Pakistan champions won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a competitive total of 156 for six in 20 overs.

In the final match between India and Pakistan, Kamran Akmal (24 off 19) and Maqsood (21 off 12) gave their team a solid start but regular wickets limited the scoring.
Pakistan’s standout player was Shoaib Malik, who was the linchpin of the innings with a crucial 41 off 36 balls. Captain Younis Khan did not feature prominently, being restricted to just seven by Irfan Pathan. The middle order collapsed and Misbah-ul-Haq was forced to retire injured after making 18, but a late contribution from Sohail Tanvir (19 off 9 balls) helped Pakistan reach a respectable score.
In the India vs Pakistan match, Anureet Singh’s three wickets, ably assisted by Vinay Kumar, Pawan Negi and Irfan Pathan (one wicket each), helped the Indian bowlers keep the Pakistan batting line-up in check.
In reply, the Indian champions were eager to score runs and despite an early loss to Robin Uthappa (10), Ambati Rayudu’s explosive 50 off 30 balls laid the foundation for India’s chase.
Suresh Raina also scored four in the same over to help Pakistan turn the tally around, but a strong partnership between Rayudu and Gurkeerat Singh Maan (34 off 33) helped India retain the win.
Raydu and Mann were also dismissed for 10 runs each but Yusuf Pathan’s smash of 30 runs off 16 balls ensured India maintained a strong momentum. Pathan was dismissed in the penultimate over.
With captain Yuvraj Singh (15*) and Irfan Pathan (5*) coming into the batting, India posted figures of 159 for 5 in 19.1 overs to seal the win, much to the delight of the fans.
Despite their best efforts, Pakistan bowlers could not halt India’s march towards the target. Among the bowlers, Aamer Yamin was man of the match with figures of 3-0-29-2, while Sohail Tanvir and Sohail Khan took one wicket each.
