India Vs Pakistan Live!

The 2024 T20 World Cup steps up a level today with one of the biggest matches in world sport being held in New York. Pakistan go into this titanic Group A showdown with their toughest rivals desperately needing to bounce back from their shock Super Over defeat to the tournament’s co-hosts, the United States, in Dallas on Thursday, a momentous result that will go down as one of the biggest upsets in cricket history.

Babar Azam’s Pakistan collapsed in shocking fashion that day and will need to improve significantly now if they are to face favourites India, who thrashed Ireland by eight wickets on Wednesday. Captain Rohit Sharma has had a couple of injury crises this week but is fit to play, and Pakistan also have all-rounder Imad Wasim available after recovering from a rib injury.

The pitch for today’s match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Long Island has been heavily criticised and even called “unsafe” after India’s crushing win over Ireland, becoming a somewhat unwelcome subplot. Follow the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan live below!

Pakistan team news: Imad Wasim set for return

Pakistan looked to strengthen their fitness ahead of this afternoon’s highly anticipated match.

All-rounder Imad Wasim missed the shock Super Over defeat to USA with a suspected rib injury but has been declared fit to play against India.

The problem also forced Imad to miss Pakistan’s final warm-up match against England last week.

But the 35-year-old, who reversed his retirement from international cricket in March, is now available to play again, according to South Africa coach Gary Kirsten.

Imad should return to the Pakistan line-up this afternoon, replacing Azam Khan.

India National Team News: Rohit Sharma recovers from injury scare

13:15 , George Flood

Influential captain Rohit Sharma is fit to play for India today after suffering through a few different injury crises this week.

He was initially forced to leave injured after scoring 52 when he was hit on the upper arm by a Josh Little bouncer ball during a brief chase between India and Ireland on Wednesday.

Veteran opener Sharma was hit on the thumb while batting against slowdown specialist Nuwan Seneviratne in the nets at Kanthiag Park, which has reportedly led to a complaint being lodged with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the state of the practice pitch.

However, the Indian captain is ready to go as usual this afternoon.
