India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup match in Dambulla, Sri Lanka on Friday, July 19. Opting to bat first, Pakistan were bowled out for 108, with experienced spinner Deepti Sharma (3/20) being the most successful bowler.
India bowled out in the second innings and lost three wickets in 14.1 overs for 109 runs. Renuka Singh (2/14) and Pooja Vastrakar (2/31) picked up crucial wickets at crucial moments to keep the pressure on Pakistan throughout the innings.
Smiriti Mandhana scored 45 runs and Shafali Verma scored 40 runs.

India faced Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, and some brilliant bowling from off-spinner Deepti Sharma (3/20) helped them beat their neighbours by 108 runs.
India picked up their first wicket in the second over when Pooja Vastrakar got Gul Feroza out and the ball was caught at mid-on by captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
Pooja Vastrakar took two wickets in the match against Pakistan, dismissing another Pakistan opener, Muneeba Ali, and by the fifth over Pakistan were 26 for 2.
Off-spinner Shaileyanka Patil then got Aliya Riaz caught at midwicket by Rodrigues and Pakistan struggled to score runs to mount a challenge.
Pakistan captain Nida Dar was next to be run out when she was hit by Dayalan Hemarata at long-on off a Deepti delivery and the batsman bowled a big ball straight over the boundary as per usual but was out.
India continued to take wickets – pacer Renuka Singh got two off Sidra Amin and Iram Javed – and Pakistan were at 61 for 6 in the 13th over.
Tuba Hassan and Fatima Sana continued their 31-run partnership which came to an end when Tuba Hassan was out. India picked up three wickets in the 18th over from Hassan, Sayeeda Aloob Shah and Nashra Sandhu.
Sana hit two sixes off left-arm spinner Radha in the 19th over to take Pakistan past the 100 mark.
