2024 Lok Sabha Elections Live: The final phase of the general election is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, which will mark the end of six of the seven phases that have been held so far.
Campaigning for the seventh phase of India’s Lok Sabha elections ended two days before the polling day, with residents of 57 Lok Sabha constituencies across eight states and union territories gearing up to cast their vote.
Elections are scheduled to be held in constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chandigarh on June 1. As per the Election Commission guidelines, polling will begin at 7 am and end at 6 pm in all constituencies.
The Election Commission of India has released voter turnout statistics for the sixth phase of India’s Lok Sabha elections, showing that voter turnout was 63.37 percent in 58 seats across eight states and union territories.
The vote count is scheduled for June 4th.

– Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu from May 30 to June 1 and will visit the famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial. After campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi will meditate at Dhyan Mandapam, the same place where Swami Vivekananda once meditated, from the evening of May 30 to the evening of June 1.
– Indian National Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continuing to hold election rallies across the country, alleging that he has not visited the restive state of Manipur even once. Kharge accused the prime minister of “ignoring the unrest in Manipur” while making extensive visits both at home and abroad.
– Indian National Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has distanced himself from the party over former Union Minister Mani Shankar Iyer’s remarks on the 1962 Chinese aggression, saying Iyer’s comments were made in his “personal capacity”. Iyer’s remarks, made at an event on Tuesday, had sparked controversy as he referred to the alleged Chinese invasion of India in October 1962.
– Ahead of the final round of voting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said two factions had emerged in the ongoing 2024 Indian Lok Sabha elections and asked people to decide who should rule the country.

Speaking to PTI on the final day of campaigning for India’s seven-phase Lok Sabha elections, the Indian National Congress general secretary expressed optimism that his party will surpass the 272 seats needed for a majority in the Lok Sabha.
Ramesh also pointed out that some NDA parties may consider joining the coalition government if the Janbandhan party wins the mandate of the people. In such a scenario, the top brass of the Indian National Congress would have to decide whether to include them in the alliance.

2024 Lok Sabha Elections Live: Shashi Tharoor’s personal assistant arrested on gold smuggling charges
Indian Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Live: Delhi Customs detained two persons at Delhi International Airport on suspicion of gold smuggling.
Customs sources said one of the detainees, who identified himself as Shiv Kumar Prasad, claimed to be personal assistant to Indian National Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, news agency ANI reported.
Prasad had arrived at the airport to meet a passenger arriving from Dubai when the passenger attempted to hand over about 500 grams of gold bars to Prasad, leading to the two being arrested.

Indian Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Live: The Indian National Congress has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to flout the Model Code of Conduct with his planned 48-hour meditation trip in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari starting May 30. The party has asked the Election Commission to not allow the media to broadcast the event, citing violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
According to news agency PTI, a delegation comprising Indian National Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala, Abhishek Singhvi and Syed Nasir Hussain met the Election Commission and submitted a memorandum along with 27 other complaints alleging violations of norms by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the past few days.
The Indian National Congress alleged that PM Modi’s meditation programme at the ‘Dhyan Mandapam’ in Kanyakumari was a “blatant violation” of the silence period ahead of the June 1 polls, particularly in his Varanasi constituency and other constituencies.
