India is all set for the penultimate phase of the seven-phase 2024 Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for Friday. Voting will take place in 58 seats across six states and two union territories to decide the fate of 889 candidates. Voting will take place in all seven seats in Delhi. Other states going to polls are Uttar Pradesh (14), Haryana (10), Bihar (8), West Bengal (8), Odisha (6) and Jharkhand (4). Voting will also take place in the Anantnag Rajouri constituency in Jammu and Kashmir. Here are 10 things to know about the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
1. Around 1.14 lakh polling officers have been deployed for 111.3 million voters in 114 lakh polling stations in each state where the elections are being held. 2. According to the Election Commission, the 111.3 million voters include 5.83 lakh men and 5.29 lakh women. At least 5,120 voters of the third gender will also exercise their right to vote. 3. Over 893 lakh registered voters aged 85 years and above will cast their votes, while 23,659 voters aged 100 years and above will cast their votes. At least 958 lakh differently abled voters have been given the option to cast their vote in the comfort of their homes. 4. At least 20 special trains have been deployed to transport election security personnel. A total of 184 observers have already arrived in the constituencies a few days before the polls. These include 66 general observers, 35 police observers and 83 expenditure observers.
5. According to the poll panel, 2,222 flying squadrons, 2,295 static surveillance teams, 819 video surveillance teams and 569 video viewing teams are keeping watch round the clock. To ensure security during the election period, 257 international border crossings and 927 inter-state border crossings are being kept under strict surveillance against illicit traffic of liquor, narcotics, cash, giveaways etc. The Election Commission added that strict surveillance is also being kept on sea and air routes. 7. The Election Commission said facilities like water, huts, toilets, ramps, volunteers, wheelchairs, electricity etc are being provided to ensure that all voters can cast their vote without any hassle.

9. The Election Commission has also provided 12 alternative documents other than the EPIC for identity verification at the polling station. If a voter is registered in the electoral roll, he or she can cast his or her vote by presenting any of these documents. 10. The Voter Turnout App will display the overall estimated voter turnout for each phase in real time. Phase-wise, State-wise, AC-wise and PC-wise estimated voter turnout data will be available live on the Voter Turnout App every two hours until 7 PM on Election Day and will be continuously updated thereafter as voters return.
