Janduta/Hamirpur/Bolanj: Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Hamirpur Lok Sabha and Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur on Monday questioned the “bad” relations between the Indian National Congress and Pakistan, a press release from the Himachal Pradesh BJP said.
He asked: “Why does the Congress repeatedly maintain friendly relations with Pakistan? Why does it feel compelled to praise Pakistan while living in India? What poor politics is it to praise Pakistan during Indian elections to please a particular constituency? What poor politics is it to hand over thousands of acres of Indian land to Pakistan?”
Anurag Thakur stressed that even 75 years after India’s separation from Pakistan, the Congress and Pakistan remain connected, according to the statement. He questioned why the Congress was seeking evidence of surgical strikes and fearing Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities while insisting on the abolition of India’s nuclear weapons, he added.
Anurag Thakur made these remarks at public meetings and media interactions in Janduta, Bolanj and Hamirpur districts. He highlighted the achievements of himself and the Modi government and urged people to vote in droves for the Bharatiya Janata Party on June 1. He also criticised the Congress and the Opposition parties, the statement added.
“India today wants to move forward and that is why we have chosen strong leadership. In six phases, the entire country has demonstrated its commitment to a developed India by overwhelmingly electing Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for the third time. Hamirpur and Himachal Pradesh will also vote in large numbers for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the seventh and final phase on June 1,” he said.
He added, “On June 4, the people will suffer a major defeat at the hands of the Congress and its alliance who are trying to garner votes by spreading fear and confusion in the name of caste, religion and region. They are already planning their defeat because of EVMs which will see them win less than 40 seats. They have tried all sorts of tactics to spread lies, fear and confusion in the name of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and the Constitution but none of them have worked.”
Anurag Thakur further added, “History has shown that ever since independence, the Indian National Congress party has given priority to its own deals in every defence deal. The Indian National Congress’s agenda has always been to line its own pockets with the country’s money. From the purchase of 3,000 jeeps from the UK immediately after independence to the Bofors scam, Scorpion submarine scam and AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter scam, the Indian National Congress’s hands are tainted with middlemanship. Indian National Congress leaders spend funds meant for strengthening the army on their own luxuries, while our soldiers are dying on the borders due to lack of resources.”
Thakur also highlighted the achievements of the BJP government and said, “Under the respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, for the first time, the bodies of soldiers martyred in Kargil were brought back to their home town. The bereaved families were given petrol stations, gas companies and financial assistance. Atal Bihari Vajpayee enhanced India’s global standing by testing the atomic bomb. Under the Modi government, soldiers received Rafale aircraft and now India produces BrahMos missiles, INS Vikrant warships, Tejas aircraft and bulletproof vests. We have constructed over 6,800 kilometres of roads along the border. Last year, domestic defence production crossed Rs 100 billion. We have also signed around 11 peace agreements in the Northeast. Now, Naxalites have laid down arms across the country. The Modi government has so far provided over Rs 1.2 trillion to the Indian National Congress. We will treat our soldiers equally by implementing their four-decade-old demand of ‘one class, one pension’.”
