NEW DELHI: The number of startups in India has increased more than 300 times in the past 10 years since Narendra Modi became prime minister, from just about 350 in 2014, a Union minister said. Jitendra Singh said on Sunday.

He said the country currently has the third largest startup ecosystem in the world and is home to some of the fastest growing unicorn companies.

“For the first time in the history of independent India, Modi as Prime Minister made a painstaking and conscious effort to educate the youth of this country that employment was not limited to government jobs only, and he We have promoted new means of livelihood that have more potential and are more lucrative than government jobs,” Human Resources Minister Singh said. P.T.I. here.

According to him, startups in India have grown more than 300 times in the 10 years since Narendra Modi became prime minister, up from just about 350 in 2014.

Singh further said that Prime Minister Modi has unleashed India’s space research by opening up a field that was hitherto conservative and closed.

“Last year alone, India literally reached the moon and beyond with two feats – Chaldyan 3 and Aditya L1 solar exploration missions,” he added.

Singh said that in just about four years since the space sector was opened up to the private sector, the number of space startups has increased from single digits to triple digits.

Prime Minister Modi’s radical decisions have given a boost to various sectors such as space, railways, roads, infrastructure and electronic communications, pushing India’s economy from 11th to 5th largest economy, which it is now on the brink of becoming. . It occupies the third position, the Union Minister said.

Singh said that in 2014, when Prime Minister Modi took office, India was the world’s 10th largest economy.

“In less than 10 years, India has jumped to the 5th position. Hopefully this year it will emerge as the 4th largest economy and during PM Modi’s third term, India will become the 3rd largest economy in the world. “We aim to become the number one economic power by 2047,” he added.

Singh said India in 2024 is poised to take a giant leap forward, backed by scientific acumen and technological capabilities.

He said India is emerging as the world’s leading startup ecosystem and the time has come to develop a sustainability strategy.

Singh said the Modi government is focusing on the youth by empowering ‘Amrit Peedi’.

He said, “The general public believes that India can become the world’s leading economy under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, because of the outreach he commands around the world, and because of the outreach that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed.” “India is confident under the government led by the Prime Minister,” he said.
