The USA played well against South Africa, falling 18 runs short of the Proteas’ total of 194. According to reports, Monak sustained the injury in a very unfortunate manner as the team was reportedly celebrating lavishly on the team bus as they returned to the hotel after the historic win against Pakistan.
It was during the celebration that Monunk sustained a bruised right shoulder, reportedly causing a rotator cuff injury and a microfracture that has kept him sidelined ever since.
