Why he was named Player of the Year: Drew Fishback is a three-time AGR Player of the Year and arguably the best tennis player in Section V this decade. The junior from Geneva is one of the top high school players in the country. Tennisrecruiting.net ranked Fishback the No. 1 player to watch on its Junior Tennis RPI list in June. Fishback compiled a 28-0 record as a junior. He won the NYSPHSAA singles title match and followed his brother, Ryan, as a state champion.
Drew Fishback, a highly skilled left-hander, has not lost to a Section V opponent since 2021. He has a career record of 99-3 as a four-time Section V champion. Fishback’s most recent two losses came in the NYS Quarterfinals in 2022 and the NYS Semifinals in 2023. In lieu of defending his 2024 NYS singles title next year, Drew hopes to play in the 2025 NYSPHSAA doubles tournament with his brother, Tucker.
