Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will embark on a two-day visit to Hong Kong on Thursday to attend the signing ceremony for the establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed).

During his visit, Dar will formally sign the convention on the establishment of the IOMed and deliver an address at the ceremony on May 30. He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event, according to the statement issued by Foreign Office on Wednesday.

“Pakistan believes that peace and security, as well as global prosperity, can be promoted and preserved through strict adherence to the principles of the UN Charter, faithful implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, and international law,” it read.

It added that mediation, diplomacy, dialogue, and international cooperation remain key pillars of Pakistan’s foreign policy approach.

Pakistan joins the IOMed as one of its founding members, underlining its commitment to the peaceful resolution of international disputes.

“Pakistan remains strongly supportive of the aims and objectives of the International Organization for Mediation, recognising its potential for peaceful and pacific settlement of international disputes,” the statement added.
