Ivy Tech invites the public to snack on Grasshopper Food Tuck this summer | Community

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) – Ivy Tech Hospitality students are cooking Up Grasshopper recipes are back in season again, offering a unique treat to people’s taste buds this summer.

The Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne Grasshopper Food Truck will open June 3 and will add more days and hours of operation to its 2024 seasonal schedule.

Students and faculty from Ivy Tech’s Department of Hospitality Management will be serving lunch from the Grasshopper Food Truck Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with one Thursday dinner service from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The truck will begin operating on June 3 and end on July 25. Outdoor seating will be available at the truck for paying guests.

Ivy Tech will close the food trucks for the summer of 2024 within a two-month schedule that staff will adhere to. First on Juneteenth, June 19, and then on July 19. 4th, On Independence Day.

The food truck will be located seasonally at the Ivy Tech Coliseum campus (3800 North Anthony Boulevard, Door 25, facing Coliseum Boulevard).

Ivy Tech offers the public recipes to treat discerning palates, including Mississippi Pot Roast Poutine, Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad Wraps, House-Breaded Ocean Peach Po’Boys and desserts.

Ivy Tech describes the Grasshopper Food Truck as a learning lab for students in its Hospitality Management program: Each summer, a group of faculty and staff work with students to provide meals for the university and the public, and students who participate in the program can earn college credit and experience upon completion of the program.
