Athens, Georgia – The Georgia Tech baseball team battled through a do-or-die NCAA Athens Regional game, winning 4-2 against Army on Saturday afternoon at Foley Field.
The Yellow Jackets (32-24) are off to a great start thanks to the performance of their RHP. Aiden Finately (6 wins, 4 losses) pitched 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, striking out 5 and walking only 1. RHP Riley Stanford After allowing just one hit in 2.0 innings, RHP Tate McKee He held the opposing team hitless in the ninth inning, earning his first save.
At the plate, Tech hit two solo home runs in the first inning; Drew Burress He hit his 24th home run of the season, followed by John Giesler He hit the 10th one. Van Lucky He also had two hits, Mike Beckett He also had a key RBI in the fourth inning, and Giesler walked in the eighth to score an RBI.
The Black Knights (31-23) were led by pitcher Chris Barr, who was three for five at bats, while right-hander Justin Lehman (5-4) was the losing pitcher, giving up six hits and three runs in 6.1 innings.
