As always, Jennifer Lawrence looked effortlessly chic and cool as she arrived at JFK airport this weekend. (Lawrence is often photographed in New York City rocking the latest designer looks in the most casual of ways, and is frequently photographed by Who What Wear.) For her travel day, she opted for a denim button-down shirt, jeans, and Alaia’s popular mesh ballet flats in red. While her denim trend choice means I might be a little hesitant to wear it, in many ways it was the perfect travel outfit.
The denim trend in question is paddle jeans, which have been popular with fashion people lately. They’re pretty much an extension of the baggy jeans trend, but they’re longer and the excess fabric “pools” on the floor. As a self-proclaimed germaphobe, I try not to wear clothes that touch the ground when I walk, especially in airport bathrooms and on airplanes. That being said, while I love the look of paddle jeans or pants, I think I’ll opt for a style that doesn’t touch the floor as much on my next flight.
