PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has announced financial assistance of Rs2.5 million for each person injured in the recent drone attack at a wedding party in Tirah, District Khyber.

The announcement was made during the chief minister’s visit to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar, where he reviewed the medical facilities and the quality of care being provided to the drone attack victims. CM Afridi instructed hospital authorities to ensure that no shortcomings occur in the treatment of patients.

He emphasised that patients whose care cannot be covered under the health card due to technical issues should also receive full and free medical treatment.

The chief minister directed the hospital administration to provide immediate, high-quality care to each and every injured utilising all available resources.

During the visit, CM Afridi personally interacted with the patients and their attendants, listening to their concerns and instructing relevant authorities to take prompt action. He reassured the public that the provincial government stands with the people in every hour of difficulty and will not leave them alone.

It may be mentioned that a drone helicopter fired shells on a wedding party in Khyber District, injuring eight people, including children. According to local police, the attack took place at around 1am in Shalobar, a locality in the Tirah Valley. The injured were rushed to Peshawar for medical aid.

Police and intelligence agencies launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities said the area has an alarming presence of outlaws, and intelligence-based operations are conducted periodically against them.
