Kangana Ranaut is contesting as a BJP candidate and recently won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Mandi constituency. In an interview to Himachali Podcast, the actor-turned-politician said that working in the film industry is much easier than working in politics. She also said that she has received offers to join politics in the past. What Kangana said

During the interview, Kangana said in Hindi, “This is not the first time I have been approached to join politics. I have been approached several times in the past. I was offered to contest after my debut with Gangster. My great-grandfather was a state legislator for at least three terms. So, when you belong to such a family and achieve some success, you get approached by local leaders. This is very common. In fact, my father has also been approached. My sister was approached to join politics after surviving an acid attack. So, for us, getting an offer in politics is not a big deal. If I wasn’t interested in this, I really wouldn’t have had to struggle so much.”

She added, “I am a person who acts on passion. In the film industry too, I am an actor, writer, director and producer. If in my political career I have to engage with the people here, I will go for it. I am not forced to. But I do not deny that work in the film industry is comparatively easier than politics. The latter requires a lot of effort. It is a tough life, just like a doctor, where only those in need come to see me. When I go to see a film, I feel very relaxed. But politics is not like that.”

BJP candidate Kangana won the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency by 74,755 votes over her Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh. A day after her victory, she was slapped by CISF personnel at Chandigarh airport. She also released a video after the incident, assuring her followers that she is safe and unharmed. She will be appearing on an emergency broadcast next.
