A 30-year-old employee of the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly posting comments on X in support of Pakistan against India.

The arrested person has been identified as Faheem Firdous Qureshi. From KashmirPolice received a complaint from BIEC with attachments showing the “objectionable” posts posted by Qureshi on X, which they accepted and registered a case.

In one of the posts, Faheem allegedly wrote, “When ‘I’ is replaced with ‘we’, India becomes wendya, meaning India is finished. Today at work I introduced a client to Pakjit’s. How is the situation in Kashmir? What are you talking about? It’s time to bring this out of the closet for tonight’s match. We know we are losing and clearly not favourites. But we hope Green doesn’t do much. #PakvsInd #t20USA Dear Australia, I can’t afford the cost of living. India is winning today. Please do something,” X’s post was viewed by hundreds of people.

The case has been registered under Sections 505(1)(B) (inducing any person to commit an offence against the State or public peace with intent to cause or likely to cause fear or anxiety to the public or any section of the public) and 153B (imputing, presuming an offence prejudicial to national integrity) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police said further investigations were on.

A senior police officer said Qureshi was arrested on Wednesday and is currently in police custody. “He had been staying in Bengaluru for the last 11 months,” the officer said.
