Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday slammed former Pakistani minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhry’s comments on India’s Lok Sabha elections and said India will not tolerate interference in its internal affairs by the biggest sponsor of terror.
Kejriwal, who is also the national president of the Ahmed Ahmed Party (AAP), said the situation in Pakistan is very bad and the country must take care of itself.
The Delhi Chief Minister made the statement after Chaudhry quoted his post on X’s vote and wrote, “May peace and harmony defeat the forces of hatred and extremism. #MorePower #IndiaElections2024.”
Responding to this, Kejriwal said, “Mr Chaudhry, I and the people are fully capable of dealing with the issues. There is no need for your tweets. The situation in Pakistan is very bad at present. You should take care of your own country.”
“The ongoing elections in India are our internal matter. India will not tolerate interference by the biggest sponsor of terror,” the AAP supremo said.
Meanwhile, responding to Kejriwal’s remarks, a former Pakistani minister wrote on X, “Sahab CM, yes election campaigning is your own business but I hope you understand that extremism whether in Pakistan or India is a cross-border phenomenon and a danger to everyone in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. It should therefore concern anyone with a conscience… The situation in Pakistan is far from ideal but individuals wherever they are must strive for a better society…”
The same day, after voting, the Prime Minister wrote in a post on X, “I voted today together with my father, wife and children. My mother is seriously ill and could not go and vote. I voted against dictatorship, unemployment and inflation. You all must go and vote too.”
India’s sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections is currently voting for seven constituencies in Delhi and 51 seats in seven states and union territories.
