The Kings are reportedly looking to make a big move.
Sacramento is “interested” in a trade for New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram, reported Michael Scott of HoopsHype in a story published Sunday.
Scott reported that talks between the Kings and Pelicans “haven’t escalated yet,” adding that the Philadelphia 76ers are also a possible trade destination for Ingram. Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported Sunday that the Warriors are also in the running to acquire the former NBA All-Star.
Scott, citing league sources, added that Sacramento has offered a standard trade package to other NBA teams that would include Kevin Huerter, Harrison Barnes and draft picks during the 2024 NBA Draft.
One of those picks included the 13th overall pick in this year’s draft, which the Kings used to select Devin Carter. General manager Monte McNair seemed pleasantly surprised to get Carter with that pick, which may mean Sacramento is less willing to move the former Providence guard in a potential trade.
But the Kings do own a first-round pick in each draft beyond 2026, and combining that with Huerter and Barnes could make a tempting offer for a star like Ingram. The Pelicans wing is averaging 20.8 points, 5.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 64 games in 2023-24, and his addition would be a big boost to Sacramento’s young core.
