Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday exhorted party workers to take the party flag and ideals to every village in the next five years to bring the party to power in the next Assembly elections in 2029.
“I salute all the workers who worked hard for the party despite the summer heat to win eight Lok Sabha seats in the Assembly elections early December and eight state Assembly seats in the state elections. Our target is to win 88 seats in the next state assembly elections,” he said.
Speaking at a felicitation programme organised by the party at its state office for newly inducted Union Ministers, including Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, he urged party workers to reach out to their units in the coming years to strengthen the party.
Rajya Sabha member and National OBC Morcha president K Lakshman said the BJP’s foundation is based on its committed party cadres who have been fighting relentlessly for the cause of the people. He dedicated the recent victory to the party workers, recalling the great sacrifices made by some of them over the last few years.
Kishan Reddy and Sanjay Kumar started their political careers from the working class and have now risen to the ranks of ministers, showing that the party has always recognised hard work. He also paid tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inducting the two into his cabinet. Among those in attendance were MPs DK Aruna (Mahabubnagar), D Aravind (Nizamabad), Eatala Rajender (Malkajgiri) and M Raghunandan Rao (Medak). The leaders then offered prayers at the Bhagyalakshmi temple in Charminar.
That evening, when Kishan Reddy landed from a special flight from New Delhi, Begumpet airport, used for VVIP visits, was abuzz with saffron flags and slogans of “Jai Sri Ram” and “Vande Mataram.” His wife Kavya Reddy was the first to greet him after he disembarked, bearing flowers. Soon after, Lakshman, Sanjay Kumar, former state legislator Ramchandra Reddy and a large number of party workers welcomed him to the sound of drums and cymbals.
After a brief speech thanking the party for the grand welcome, he along with other leaders, including Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender, Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MP K Venkatramana Reddy and MP P Shankar, boarded an open truck and took the ‘Salute to Telangana’ vehicle rally to the state office on MJ Road, Nampally.
Along the way, party members used cranes to raise giant floral garlands at various locations to welcome the leaders, and various traditional performers also gave performances. At the party office, the women’s division welcomed the leaders with bouquets of flowers.
