Demographic Profile

According to the latest Delimitation Commission report, the Scheduled Caste population in Kurukshetra Parliamentary constituency is estimated at 24% and the Scheduled Tribe population is estimated at 0%. According to the 2011 Census of India, the district which this constituency falls within has an estimated literacy rate of 73%.

In Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency, the total number of registered voters in the electoral roll for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was 17,75,529, of which 932,517 were male, 842,990 were female and 22 were of the third gender. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the total number of registered voters was 16,57,335, of which 932,517 were male, 774,519 were female and 15 were of the third gender. In the 2014 elections, the total number of registered voters in this constituency was 14,98,459, of which 807,700 were male, 690,759 were female and 0 were of the third gender. The other Assembly constituencies bordering Kurukshetra are Ambala, Sirsa, Hisar, Karnal, Punjab, Patiala, Uttar Pradesh and Kairana. The constituency shares state borders with Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Election Day

The sixth round of voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place in Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday, May 25, 2024. The counting of votes will take place on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

The sixth phase of voting for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in this constituency took place on Sunday, May 12, 2019 and the results were declared on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

In the 2014 elections, this constituency voted in the first phase on Thursday, April 10, 2014, and the results were declared on Friday, May 16, 2014.

In 2009, the first phase of voting in Kurukshetra took place on Thursday, May 7, 2009, and the results were declared on Saturday, May 16, 2009.

Voter turnout

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, the estimated voter turnout for Kurukshetra constituency was 67.01% for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In 2019, the constituency had a voter turnout of 74%, in 2014 it was 76%, and in 2009 it was 75%. The estimated voter turnout for 2024 was -7.22% compared to the 2019 turnout.

Past Results

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Nayab Singh of the BJP won from this seat, defeating Nirmal Singh of the INC by 384,591 votes, which amounted to 31.26% of the total votes cast in the seat. The BJP’s vote share in this seat in 2019 was 55.93%.

In 2014, BJP’s Raj Kumar defeated INLD’s Balbir Singh Saini by a margin of 129,736 votes and won in this constituency by securing 11.46% of the total votes cast in the constituency. The BJP secured 36.92% vote share in the constituency.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, INC’s Naveen Jindal won the seat defeating INLD’s Ashok Kumar Arora by 1,18,729 votes, which was 13.56% of the total votes cast in the constituency. The INC’s vote share in the seat was 45.36%.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Nayab Singh of the BJP won the constituency defeating Nirmal Singh of the INC by 384,591 votes, securing 31.26% of the total votes.
