We have news for you: bubble skirts are back! Featuring voluminous hems and plenty of fabric, this type of skirt was a style staple of the 1980s and also made a huge comeback in the mid-to-late 2000s. These two fashion eras have been making a big comeback lately.
On the runway, designers like Aaron Esch, Louis Vuitton, 16Arlington, and Jacquemus have championed the style, while celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter, Cindy Kimberly, Selena Gomez, and Sienna Miller (who announced her second pregnancy on the red carpet in a belly-baring bubble-skirt two-piece) have also been major advocates of the style.
And now our very own queen, Kylie Jenner, has jumped on the trend. In a new photo she posted to Instagram, the reality TV icon and entrepreneur is giving the bubble skirt a porn-inspired spin: With her hair down and minimal makeup, she’s donning a simple straw hat and wearing a cream linen two-piece that consists of a strappy crop top with a bow tie in the back and a voluminous miniskirt.
She accessorized with not one but two gold watches (we can’t help but wonder if they’re set to different time zones — who knows!) and posed leaning against the railing of a ship’s deck, with a backdrop of blue sea and a cloudless sky.
To say we are jealous is an understatement!
