Assert province inseparable part of Pakistan; Urge all to avoid making destabilising statements
ISLAMABAD/KARACHI:
The country’s lower house of parliament and the Provincial Assembly of Sindh on Thursday passed unanimous resolutions condemning Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recent statements on Sindh, stating that Sindh is an inseparable part of Pakistan.
The National Assembly session, chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, saw PPP MNA Aslam Alam Niazi present a resolution condemning Rajnath Singh’s remarks.
The resolution rejected the statements, adding that the statements did not reflect the constitutional or geopolitical realities of the region.
The house reaffirmed that Sindh is an integral part of the sovereign state of Pakistan and its status is fully protected under the Constitution and recognised at both national and international levels.
The resolution further urged all individuals and institutions to avoid issuing biased or destabilising statements that could create misunderstanding or negatively affect national cohesion.
Members across the aisle supported the resolution, noting that such remarks were inappropriate and could misguide public opinion. The house reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
Addressing a Sindhi Samaj Sammelan organised by the Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations on November 23 in Delhi, Rajnath said today, the land of Sindh might not be a part of India, but culturally, Sindh would always be a part of India.
He went on to say that borders can change and suggested that Sindh could “return” to India someday, while emphasising Sindh’s cultural and spiritual ties including reverence for the Indus and that the people of Sindh “will always be our own.”
The Pakistan Foreign Office had strongly condemned the remark, denouncing it as “delusional”, “dangerously revisionist” and reflective of an “expansionist Hindutva mindset.”
In a sharply worded statement, the FO on November 24 said the remarks sought to challenge “established realities” and violated “the inviolability of recognized borders, and the sovereignty of states.”
It added that “such statements reveal an expansionist Hindutva mindset that seeks to challenge established realities and stands in clear violation of international law.”
The FO urged Rajnath and other Indian leaders to refrain from provocative rhetoric, stressing that such remarks threaten regional stability .
“Indian leaders should refrain from provocative rhetoric that threatens regional peace and stability. It would be far more constructive for the Government of India to focus on ensuring the security of its own citizens, particularly vulnerable minority communities,” it said.
During the NA session, several bills were passed, including the amended bill for the establishment of King Hamad University 2025. The house also approved the Danish School Authority Bill 2025 and the Qanoon-e-Shahadat (Law of Evidence) Amendment Bill 2025.
On Thursday, the Sindh Assembly also unanimously passed a condemnation resolution against the Indian minister’s provocative statement. The resolution was jointly presented by both the government and the opposition.
While discussing the resolution, members from both sides reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to national defence, stating that just like the rest of the nation, all parliamentary members in the assembly stand united on this issue.
They emphasized that Pakistan’s defense is in strong hands, and the armed forces are fully capable of defending the motherland. In the recent battle for truth.
They showcased their professional capabilities to the world. India is in a state of panic and should be concerned about its own security.
The resolution was presented by Mukesh Chawla, a member of the PPP. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Zia Lanjar informed the assembly that the opposition also supported the resolution presented, and therefore it should be considered a joint resolution.
He suggested that it would be better if the resolution was also read out by the opposition. At that moment, Mahesh Kumar Haseja of MQM read the resolution aloud. The resolution was unanimously adopted later.
