Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday urged Congress leaders and cadres to prepare for local body elections including panchayat, mandal parshad, zilla parshad and municipal elections.

“After the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Congress leaders and cadres need to work hard and interact with the people highlighting the six assurances that the government is currently implementing,” he said.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the unveiling of a bronze statue of former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy at Kalwakurthi.

“If the Indian National Congress had fielded Jaipal Reddy as its candidate for the Telangana Chief Minister post, it would have won the 2014 elections,” he said.

The Prime Minister highlighted the former Union Minister’s contribution in the creation of Telangana state during the UPA-II period and gave the go-ahead to Congress leaders and leaders to prepare for the upcoming local body elections.

Revanth Reddy recalled the time when Telangana state was formed. “When a crisis was unfolding in the Assembly, Jaipal Reddy suggested to the then Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar that the bill for the creation of Telangana state be passed quickly,” he said.

“Despite Jaipal Reddy’s hard work towards the formation of Telangana state, the Indian National Congress failed to announce him as the party’s prime ministerial candidate in 2014. If the party had done so, the Indian National Congress could have formed the government in Telangana in 2014,” the Chief Minister felt.

The Chief Minister announced the increase in funds for Kaluwakurti constituency following a request from Kaluwakurti MP Kasileddy Narayan Reddy.

The Chief Minister assured that the loan waiver for farmers would be completed by August end and said, “In the first phase, Rs 7,000 crore has already been deposited in the farmers’ accounts. In the second phase, the government will deposit the loan waiver funds in the farmers’ accounts by July 31. A maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh will be provided to each farmer.”

Revanth Reddy said the government plans to waive Rs 20 lakh and deposit funds in farmers’ accounts by August end.

The Chief Minister approved the construction of a 100-bed hospital at Kalwakurti and promised to allocate Rs 18 crore for R&B Road, Rs 100 crore for the National Construction Academy to provide training for the youth, construction of a university and junior college at Amangarh and Rs 150 crore for a flyover and underground drainage system at Madugura district headquarters.

Revanth Reddy also promised to sanction Rs 5 crore for the development of ZP High School, Tandra, where he had his primary education.

He said the state government has submitted a proposal to Union Roads Minister Nitin Gadkari for constructing a four-lane road from Hyderabad to Srisailam and Kalwakurthi.

The Prime Minister accused BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, state Congress members K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao of making false accusations against the Indian National Congress government and its projects.
