Little Rock fireworks vendor aims to cut rates after years of high costs

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Fireworks prices have skyrocketed in recent years, but a Little Rock business is looking to lower prices and offer fireworks that are easier on people’s wallets ahead of the Fourth of July celebrations.

According to the American Fireworks Association, the cost of shipping fireworks by ocean has doubled in the past two years, forcing AR fireworks warehouse owners to raise prices.

“Last year was a disaster because we price our products purely based on cost,” owner Kaymeron Bitzer said.

Fireworks prices rise for second consecutive year

His wife, Liana Bitzer, said this year’s numbers are a big difference compared to the past two years.

“It was probably about 15 percent higher,” says Lena Bitzer.

They both say this year is very different.

“Prices have come down, but if customers aren’t getting a good deal, I think the companies are ripping them off,” Kaymeron Bitzer said.

Bitzer said he and his wife have worked in the industry for 12 years and they both agree that lower shipping costs would mean better deals for fireworks buyers.

“As long as we keep our customers happy and they feel like they’re getting a great deal on fireworks at a fair price, I think that’s what will help us grow,” Kaymeron Bitzer said.

Kaymeron Bitzer said the minimum price for fireworks will be $8.99, $10 cheaper than the previous two years, and he said he hopes prices will stay at that level.
