Saturday is a big day at the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, with the final day of competition featuring eight finals, including the highly anticipated 200m final.
Shacarie Richardson will compete in the women’s 200m, aiming for a top three finish to qualify for her first Olympic Games. She will compete against Gabby Thomas, who has a world-leading time of 21.78 seconds in the event. In the men’s 200m, Noah Lyles will be looking to win the event over Elyon Knighton, Kenny Bednarek and Christian Coleman.

Today’s USA Track & Field Olympic Trials schedule
Most of the action on Saturday is scheduled for the evening session beginning at 7:30 pm ET, with the only event being the morning session, beginning at 10:30 am, the race walk final.

What to expect from the final weekend of the Olympic Athletics Trials
There will be plenty of exciting finals taking place on Saturday night and Sunday that you won’t want to miss. As the Olympic Track and Field Trials draw to a close, here is a list of the biggest events to look forward to.
Gabby Thomas vs. Shakary Richardson vs. Mackenzie Long
Gabby Thomas, last year’s Olympic bronze medalist in the 200 meters, won her semifinal on Friday in the fastest 200 meter time in the world this year with a time of 21.78. She beat the previous world record of 21.83 held by Ole Miss star Mackenzie Long, who also won in the semifinals. Richardson tied her personal best in 21.98 to win the semifinal and set up a showdown in today’s final. See what Thomas and Richardson had to say after their semifinal victories:
Lolo Jones surprises in the 100m hurdles
You read that correctly: we didn’t hop in a time machine and go back to 2008. Lolo Jones, 41, finished last in the fourth heat of the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials on Friday night at Hayward Field. She also received the loudest cheers from the crowd. There were so many withdrawals in the women’s hurdles that every competitor in the heat advanced, which means Jones will compete again in the semifinals on Saturday.
“If I wake up tomorrow and I don’t need a cane, I’m going!” Jones said. She last competed at the Olympic Track and Field Trials in 2012, where she competed at the Drake Relays in April. She also joked that the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug Teradol helped her finish the race. “The official sponsor of 40 years old!” Read more from USA Today sports reporter Lindsay Schnell.
When will Shakari Richardson run?
The women’s 200 meter final is scheduled for 8:27 pm ET. Richardson qualified in 21.92 seconds, the second-fastest time going into the final. The fastest time going into Saturday’s final was 21.78 seconds by Gabby Thomas, who recorded the fastest time in the world this year.
Richardson will start in lane 6. Thomas will start in lane 8.
When will Noah Lyles run?
The men’s 200m final is scheduled for 9:49 pm ET.
Lyles’ 19.60 was the best qualifying time for the final. The 200m world champion will run in lane six.
Other notable contenders in the 200m include Elyon Knighton, Kenny Bednarek and Christian Coleman.
When will Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone run?
The women’s 400m hurdles semifinal is scheduled for 8:41pm ET.
McLoughlin-Levrone is competing in the first heat and is in lane 6. McLoughlin-Levrone is the world record holder in the event and the defending Olympic champion.
