New York and Utah will hold primaries on June 25. Colorado will hold a primary and a special general election for its 4th Congressional District. South Carolina will also hold a primary runoff election.
One closely watched race is in New York’s 16th Congressional District, where progressive Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman faces a tough challenge from Westchester County Mayor George Latimer.
In Colorado’s Republican-leaning 4th District, controversial Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert is flipping from the more competitive 3rd District after winning by fewer than 550 votes in 2022 and will need to defeat five other GOP candidates to win the nomination. Former Republican Rep. Ken Buck resigned from his 4th District seat in March, leading to a special election to replace him, but Republican candidate Greg Lopez is not seeking an unfulfilled term.
In Utah, attention will be focused on Republican primary challengers to Utah Rep. Celeste Malloy, who won her first full term in the 2nd District after winning a special election last year, and Gov. Spencer Cox. In the Republican Senate primary to replace retiring incumbent Mitt Romney, Trent Staggs is hoping Trump’s endorsement will help him defeat Rep. John Curtis.
Only one of South Carolina’s House primary races has reached a runoff, but in the 3rd District Republican primary, pastor Mark Burns, who is endorsed by President Trump, faces off against nurse Sheri Biggs, who is endorsed by Gov. Henry McMaster.
CNN will have access to statewide data for New York and Colorado on its election system.
