“Living Loud,” a runway production created and produced by 22 students enrolled in Louisiana Tech University’s School of Human Ecology, Fashion Merchandising and Retail Studies classes, will be presented at Davison Athletics on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:30 p.m. It will be held on the 3rd floor. Doors open at 6 p.m. In case of overflow, there will be live streaming on the DAC patio.
For this event, all students in the class designed and repurposed silhouettes, putting their own creative spin on “avant-garde street fashion.”
The evening will also feature representation from many local merchants from the Ruston community. A special Louisiana Tech section of the show will feature “over-the-top” high-tech fashion created and styled by students. This section will feature notable guests such as Tech XXII and Champ.
“This show also represents the support and genuine love from our tech family,” said class instructor Penny Humphries. “More than 400 attendees included Tech University President Dr. Jim Henderson and First Lady Tonia, other university administrators, Tech alumni, faculty, students, parents, and Ruston leaders in the fashion industry. is expected.”
As students planned the show, they had the opportunity to experience first-hand the success of collaborations with other programs on Tech’s campus. An “after party” in the south end zone will feature members of Tech’s Diggin’ Dogs Jazz Band, conducted by Dr. Wade Dillingham. Students also had the opportunity to work with Tech chef Karen Bennett to plan the VIP table and “after party” dessert menus.
“I am so proud of the creative, talented, and resourceful students in this class. They continue to amaze me,” Humphries said. “On May 2nd, our guests will experience a fun and entertaining event.
