Erie County Republican Committee Chairman Tom Eddy said he believes former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial was unfair.

He said the judge interrupted the former president’s defense arguments during closing arguments and allowed prosecution statements that were not proven in court.

Eddy added that if President Trump is being accused of election interference, President Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton should be suspect as well.

The chairman of the Erie County Democratic Party said any suggestion that the trial was rigged is simply untrue.

“The evidence was overwhelming. The defense barely countered and certainly didn’t say that the former president didn’t do what he did,” Erie County Democratic Party Chairman Sam Talarico said. “I think justice was done here.”

“I don’t mind them going after Trump, but I want them to go after everyone for the same reasons. That’s how our system is set up, and if we don’t get that system back under control and hold everyone equally accountable, our country is in trouble,” Eddy said.

Eddy said the Republican committee will continue to educate the public on why their candidates have the best policies.
