Balasore (Odisha): Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of being involved in revenge politics, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Saturday claimed that the saffron party wants to make India “opposition free”. did.
Mr Pilot was speaking at an election rally in support of party candidate and former Union minister Srikanth Jena in the Balasore Lok Sabha constituency, saying the Narendra Modi government at the Center had imposed price checks on essential items such as fuel and cooking gas. He accused them of being completely negligent.
“People across the country are determined to change the central government, which has not fulfilled its ‘achche din’ promises,” he asserted.
“The central bank wants to free the opposition in India. They have frozen the bank accounts of parliament… two prime ministers have been sent to jail,” he said.
The credibility of key constitutional institutions is also at risk due to their autocratic management style, Pilot argued.
“Attempts are being made to undermine the judiciary, the electoral commission and the media…This poses a grave danger to democracy,” he said.
Referring to the four-phase elections completed so far, Pilot claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party is at a disadvantage in several northern states, including Rajasthan, where it is already in power.
