LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said the opposition Indian Alliance will win all 27 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh that are going to polls in the sixth and seventh round of elections.
In a statement issued in Lucknow on the eve of the sixth phase of voting on Saturday, he said the BJP’s “parting ways” in Uttar Pradesh is certain in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He claimed that the BJP’s popularity has been on the decline in the last five elections and the party will be completely eliminated from Purvanchal in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
“The way the Samajwadi PDA family is destroying the BJP along with the Indian Union clearly shows that the Indian Union is trying to create history by winning 27 out of 27 Lok Sabha seats in the sixth and seventh elections (in Uttar Pradesh),” he said.
The sixth phase of elections will cover 14 seats – Sultanpur, Pratapagarh, Phurpur, Allahabad, Ambedkarnagar, Shravasti, Domariyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lalganj (SC), Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machilishah and Bhadohi.
The sixth phase of voting will take place on May 25.
The seventh and final round of voting will take place on June 1 and constituencies in question include Varanasi, represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Gorakhpur, which falls under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The other constituencies where voting will take place in the seventh phase are Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bansgaon (SC), Ghosi, Salempur, Bahria, Gazipur, Chandauli, Mirzapur and Robertsganj (SC).
The vote count will take place on June 4th.
Yadav said ever since the Indian National Congress and the Samajwadi Party joined forces under the India Bloc, the two forces — the BJP governments in Delhi and Lucknow — started clashing.
“Voters are fed up with rising inflation, corruption, injustice and atrocities and are voting to oust the BJP,” he said. “The people have decided this time that they will not allow the BJP to come to power again.” Yadav also said this Lok Sabha election is about changing government but also about protecting the Constitution and democracy.
“An opportunity like this will never come again,” he said, appealing to voters to give all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh to the Union of India and zero to the BJP. “Do not miss this opportunity to protect our Constitution and democracy.”
He alleged that under the BJP government, the country’s borders are not secure and conspiracies are being hatched to divide the society.
“Reservations given in Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Constitution are being scrapped. Democracy and the Constitution are facing the biggest threat under the BJP government,” Yadav alleged.
He said the government was playing with the future of young people by leaking question papers and cancelling exams.
“Around three lakh posts are vacant but the BJP government has not carried out any recruitment drive,” he said.
He also said that under the BJP government, the poor have become poorer while big industrialists are taking loans again after their earlier loans worth Rs 25 trillion were waived.
“During the BJP government, many big businessmen fled abroad after taking loans from banks. Till date, they have not been brought to justice. Instead, the BJP is harassing opposition leaders by backing the Ministry of Education, the Central Bank and the Income Tax Department. They are being harassed and insulted,” Yadav said in a statement.
