Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Today’s Phase 2 Voting Guide, Weather Forecast and Key Facts

The second phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is scheduled to be held on Friday, April 26. Voting will be held in 88 Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 13 states and union territories. Voting begins at 7 a.m. Friday.

2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Here’s your guide to Phase 2 voting on April 26th.

1. Which Lok Sabha constituencies are voting in Phase 2?

Voting will be held in 88 constituencies across 13 states/UTs. These states include Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh. The states include West Bengal.

The EC noted that polls in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul 29 constituency were rescheduled in the third phase due to the death of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate.

The first phase of voting took place on April 19th. The first phase of elections was held for 102 seats in 21 states and UTs. Voting for the remaining f stages will continue until June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.

2. What will the weather be like on Friday, April 26th?

Weather conditions are expected to be “within normal limits”, the election commission said. He added that voters can vote with confidence. “Extreme precautions are being taken at all polling stations, including facilities, to cope with the hot weather conditions,” the EC said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, hailstorm is expected in Jammu and Kashmir on April 26 and Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on April 27. Earlier, a red alert for severe heatwave had been issued in West Bengal till April 26.

3. Key facts about Phase 2 voting

A. Voting date and time: Voting begins at 7pm and ends at 6pm. Voting closures may vary by constituency.

At many polling stations in Bihar’s Banka, Madhepura, Khagaria and Mangal constituencies, voting hours were extended till 6pm to facilitate voting in hot weather.

Voting for the second phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be held on April 26, 2024 in 88 Lok Sabha constituencies (General 73, ST-6, SC-9) in 13 States/UTs. Masu.

B. Number of voters in Phase 2: According to the EC, more than 1.6 million polling workers will greet more than 15.88 billion voters at 1.67 billion polling stations.

Of the total number of voters, 8.08 billion are men, 7.8 billion are women, and 5,929 identify themselves as a third gender. There were 34.8 million first-time voters. In addition, there are 3.28 billion young voters in the 20-29 age group.

C. Total number of candidates in contention: As many as 1,202 candidates are in the fray, including 1,098 candidates, 102 men and two candidates belonging to the third gender category.

4. Who are the main candidates in the fray in Phase 2?

The main candidates in the second phase of polls include Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth icon Tejasvi Surya and union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Includes Mr. Outer Manipur Assembly constituency has four of his candidates.

5. How can I find out if a candidate has a criminal record?

The EC has notified the ‘Know the Candidates’ application where citizens can get information about the candidates contesting in their constituencies.

“Whether a candidate has a criminal record, whether there are criminal proceedings against them, or what their assets and liabilities are – voters have the right to know all this information through the KYC app.” the trustee said.

6. How can I find out my voting date and polling place details?

The EC shared a website link where voters can check polling station details and voting dates. You need to visit this website https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/. Click and enter your EPIC number and state name for details.

7. What documents do I need to bring to the polling place?

The Election Commission also provided 12 alternative documents other than Voter Identity Card (EPIC) for identity verification at polling stations. If you are registered on the electoral register, you can vote by presenting these documents.
