Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting will be held tomorrow in Mumbai! Know what’s closed and what’s open

In the fifth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Maharashtra is in the spotlight as 13 constituencies, including six crucial seats in Mumbai, are scheduled to vote on Monday.

This will be the final voting process in the state. Voting will be held in five stages on April 19th, April 26th, May 7th, May 13th, and May 20th, with vote counting scheduled for June 4th.

Meanwhile, schools, universities and banks will remain closed in constituencies taking part in Monday’s election process.

Liquor shops will be closed in key constituencies in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Palghar, Kalyan and Thane, where voting is scheduled.

The Election Commission of India directive mandates that areas where elections are held and adjoining areas observe dry days to ensure a fair and peaceful voting environment.

In Mumbai, bars and wine shops will reopen at 5pm on May 20, coinciding with election day. Moreover, Mumbai will observe another dry day on June 4 during the vote counting process till the results are announced.

BSE, NSE closed

Additionally, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed on May 20 due to voting activities, making it the second election-related month in a month, especially as all six seats in Mumbai are up for voting. It will be a holiday. Voting at this stage of the 7-stage election.

List of constituencies:

Baramati, Raigad, Darashiv, Latur, Solapur, Madha, Sangli, Ratnagiri Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Hakkananguru.

With 48 seats, Maharashtra is the second largest contributor to the Lok Sabha after Uttar Pradesh. Known for its political diversity and significant electoral influence, the state is crucial in shaping the national political landscape.
