The shift in support from the regional party (BRS) to the two national parties is seen as a major change in the political dynamics in the state. The Congress won all seven seats in the Mahabubabad constituency in the 2023 polls. The SC also supported the Congress in the assembly polls. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BRS won three SC and one ST constituency seats, while the BJP won one ST constituency seat in Adilabad. Political observers point out that the SC classification, Madiga leader Manda Krishna Madiga’s support for the BJP, the Congress’s focus on ST, SC and OBC quotas, caste census, strengthening of reservations, especially for OBCs. He pointed out issues such as accusing the BJP of conspiring to remove the party’s quota.
