As the third phase of parliamentary elections approaches, it is important to first and foremost check your voter registration status. This can be easily done online through the official website of the Election Commission of India or by contacting your local electoral registration officer.
If you have moved to another city but want to retain your voting rights in your old precinct, you will need to initiate a voter ID transfer. This includes filling out a form to transfer your voter registration from one precinct to another. This form is available online or from your local Electoral Registration Office.

Submit required documents:
In addition to a completed relocation form, you typically need to provide proof of current residence in the new city. Documents such as rental contracts, utility bills, and municipality certificates serve as valid proof of residence. Please be sure to have these documents ready when applying for relocation.
Awaiting verification:
After submitting the required documents, the electoral registration officer will begin the verification process. This may include visiting your current residence in your new city to authenticate the details provided on your application.
You will receive confirmation:
If verification is successful, your voter ID will be transferred to your new constituency. Confirmation will arrive via email or electronically, depending on the communication mode you selected during the application process.
Please vote:
On Lok Sabha election day, go to the polling station assigned to your new constituency. Remember to carry your updated voter ID card or other identification as specified by the Elections Commission.
Exercise of democratic rights:
Finally, exercise your right to vote for the candidate of your choice. No matter where you currently live, your vote plays a critical role in shaping our democratic process and determining our country’s future trajectory.
