DEER PARK, Long Island (WABC) — Four people were killed and nine injured after a minivan crashed into a nail salon on Long Island.
Authorities say the minivan drove through Hawaii Nail & Spa, a shopping mall at 796 Grand Boulevard in Deer Park, around 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
The cause of the crash is still unknown.
Authorities say all of the dead were inside the nail salon.
“It’s a terrible situation. It’s going to be tough on the community. It’s going to be tough on the volunteer fire department. But we’ll get through this. It’s especially terrible to see this during this time of year when there are so many good things happening with graduations,” Deer Park Fire Department Deputy Chief Dominic Albanese said.
The driver was taken to hospital in a semi-conscious state, while the trapped people were rescued and taken to hospital.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
