LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 2024 college football season is less than two months away and preseason fall camps for most programs are just around the corner, so preseason watch lists and voting season are moving full speed ahead.
While we still have a while until the definitive preseason poll, the AP Top 25, is released, several other major preseason college football polls have begun to be released, most recently Athlon Sports, which ranked all 134 teams at the FBS level.
The Louisville football program is coming off a very successful first year under head coach Jeff Brohm and has once again entered the transfer portal this offseason, which is why Athlon Sports has high praise for the Cardinals as they enter their second year under Coach Brohm, ranking the team at 24th, just inside the top 25.
Within the ACC, Louisville ranks just behind the top three schools favored to win the conference, with Florida State topping the league at No. 12, Clemson at No. 15 and Miami at No. 20. Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and Ole Miss round out the top five overall.
The Cardinals finished the 2023 season with a 10-4 record (7-1 in the ACC) and the team’s first-ever ACC Championship Game appearance. Head coach Jeff Brohm’s second year is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Austin Peay at L&N Stadium.
