“Love Island USA” is off to a strong start.
Season 6 of Peacock’s reality dating show was the No. 1 most-watched streaming original series in the U.S. for the week of July 5-11, garnering 919.1 million minutes watched, according to Luminate. While Season 6 has consistently ranked on Luminate’s charts since its debut between June 14-20, this week marked its biggest week yet, growing 61% from the previous week and 257% from its debut week. Of course, most of the increase is due to the amount of content now available to watch – 27 episodes had been released by July 11 – but it’s clear that the series’ popularity has steadily grown over time.
The No. 2 title this week was “The Bear” Season 3, which garnered 630.7 million minutes watched in its first week on Hulu. “The Boys” Season 4 drew 471.4 million minutes watched during the launch week of Episode 6 and the premiere day of Episode 7.
Other newcomers this week include Brazilian soap opera “Desperate Lies” at No. 4 with 446.8 million minutes watched, documentary series “The Man of 1,000 Children” at No. 6 with 346.4 million minutes watched, and “American BBQ Showdown” at No. 9 with 310.9 million minutes watched. All of these are Netflix series. The rest of the chart is made up of repeat titles like Netflix’s “Supercell,” “Bridgerton” Season 3, “Manhattan Secrets” and Apple TV+’s “Presumed Innocent.”
On the movie chart, “Beverly Hills Cop 3: Axel F” rose to No. 1 with 1.6 billion minutes watched, after debuting at No. 2 last week. This was followed by last week’s top title, “The Family Affair,” with 632.2 million minutes watched.
The remaining films on the chart have fewer than 200 million minutes of watch time. First-timers include Amazon Prime Video’s “Space Cadet” and “The Divorcee,” and Netflix’s “Goyo” and “Banished into the Night.” Returning titles include “Trigger Warning,” “Leave the World Behind,” “The Hitman” and “I Am: Celine Dion.”
