Daytona Beach, Fla., June 10, 2024 – The LPGA Foundation is pleased to announce that it has received the Best Engagement for Good award in the Impact category at the prestigious Hashtag Sports Awards. The award was presented to the LPGA Foundation’s LPGA*USGA Women’s Golf “One Million MORE Girls” campaign, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at expanding access and opportunity for young female golfers.
The Hashtag Sports Awards are hosted by the Engagement Academy of Sports Entertainment and celebrate excellence in engagement within the sports, media and entertainment industries. The LPGA’s win highlights the organization’s commitment to inspire and empower the next generation of female golfers through innovative and inclusive programming.
The “One Million MORE Girls” campaign was launched to celebrate one million girls participating through the LPGA*USGA women’s golf program since its inception in 1989, with the goal of reaching one million more girls by 2030. Committing to raising $13 million over the next seven years, the campaign focuses on expanding golf access and opportunity, improving program experiences and expanding support for grants and scholarships. The effort represents the LPGA’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, ensuring more girls from all backgrounds can participate in golf.
Since the Campaign launched in 2023, the LPGA Foundation has raised millions of dollars to further expand its programs, introducing thousands of young girls to golf with more than 60 new venues and numerous One Million More Girls Clinics around the world. Young girls are also being given more competitive opportunities as the LPGA Foundation prepares to host the inaugural LPGA*USGA Girls Golf National Championship later this month in Pine Needles, North Carolina.
“We are honored to receive this award from the Hashtag Sports Awards,” said Nancy Henderson, LPGA Chief Instruction Officer and LPGA Foundation President. “The ‘One Million MORE Girls’ campaign embodies our mission to change the face of golf and create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all young women. This award is a testament to the hard work and passion of everyone involved with the LPGA Foundation and the LPGA*USGA women’s golf program.”
The LPGA was also named a finalist in four other categories for the sixth annual Hashtag Sports Awards, reflecting the organization’s excellence across a variety of initiatives.
