The Election Commission of India (EC) announced that voter turnout in the seventh and final round of the Indian Lok Sabha elections was recorded at 49.68 percent by 3 pm on Saturday.
Voting is taking place in 57 constituencies across seven states and the union territory of Chandigarh, including Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking a third consecutive term in the Indian parliament.
Besides Chandigarh, voting is underway in all 13 seats in Punjab, four in Himachal Pradesh, 13 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, nine in West Bengal, eight in Bihar, six in Odisha and three in Jharkhand. Voting is also underway for the remaining 42 constituencies in Odisha and by-polls for six seats in Himachal Pradesh.
