Colorado Springs, Colorado – University of Iowa guard Lucy Olsen has been selected to the 2024 U.S. 3×3 Nations League women’s team announced Friday by the United States Basketball Association. The team will compete in the 2024 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference from July 22-28 in Mexico City.
The 2024 U.S. 3×3 Women’s Nations League team features NCAA Division I players such as Christina Dulce (University of Maryland), Morgan Murray (Creighton University) and Coty McMahon (Ohio State University). Lucy Olsen (University of Iowa), Mikayla Williams (LSU) and Selah Williams (University of Wisconsin).
In April, Dulce, Olsen and Mikayla Williams attended the 2024 USA Basketball 3×3 Women’s National Team training camp in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Darcet, Murray and Olsen competed in the 2023 FIBA 3×3 U21 Nations League and represented the United States U21 team in the 2023 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Finals, which they ultimately won.
According to FIBA, the seventh 3×3 Nations League will feature 13 conferences, including U-23 and U-21 teams. The 2024 FIBA 3×3 Nations League will feature seven conferences from Europe (three U-21, two from Africa and Asia, one each from the Americas and U-21 Asia-Pacific).
The Americas Conference will feature six three-game tournaments over seven days, with six team members able to rotate between the four entries on each day as needed.
For the first time, the FIBA 3×3 Nations League will be a qualification route to the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup 2024. The conference winners will earn a spot in the event, which will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from September 11-15. The 2024 FIBA 3×3 U23 Nations League will be streamed live on YouTube.
Unlike 5-on-5, 3×3 is played in the half court with a 10-minute game clock and a 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous as teams “clear” the ball behind the two-point line after a successful basketball, defensive rebound, or steal. The first team to score 21 points with a one-point field goal or two points behind the arc wins; or, if time expires, the team leading wins.
