Owner William Hurley told 12News on Thursday that his father suggested he open the deli.

“I wanted to open a roller coaster, but my father didn’t want to hear the children’s shouts,” Oh! ” “He said, ‘Why don’t you build a deli?'” So I said, ‘Okay,’ and now we have a deli. ”

The business is located in the former location of Schroeder’s Deli on Willett Avenue in Riverside.

The market will feature Rhode Island staples like grinders and hot wieners, as well as products from local vendors and artists.

Local memorabilia is also on display for guests to view.

“We have people bringing in Crescent Park tickets and Green Stamp tickets,” Hurley told Sunday 12 News. “I have Almac’s name tag.”

Hurley also explained why he has local memorabilia in the deli.

“The community was losing a local place to hang out, which is why I was so passionate about having local memorabilia,” he said. “As much as eating a sandwich, that’s what it’s all about.”

McShortagees is open Tuesday through Sunday. Closed on Mondays.
