Bangaon is one of the key seats among the 42 seats in the West Bengal Assembly elections. This district is a South Carolina primary district established in 2009 with a literacy rate of 73.54%, and voting is scheduled to take place on May 20th during the 5th election period. There are seven assembly elections for this seat across two constituencies: Nadia constituency, which includes Kalyani and Harinhata constituencies, and North 24 Parganas constituency, which includes Baghda, Bongaon Uttar, Bongaon Dakshin, Gaighata and Swarupnagar constituencies. There is a ward. According to the last assembly elections in 2021, the Swarupnagar Assembly seat was won by AITMC and the rest went to the BJP.

Major competitors

Since 2009, this seat was a stronghold of AITMC until 2019 when Shantanu Thakur of the Bharatiya Janata Party took control of the constituency. In this year’s general elections, the BJP once again fielded Mr. Shantanu Thakur against Mr. Biswajit Das of AITMC, who is aiming to regain its stronghold in this general election.

Previous voting archive

In the 2019 general elections, Shantanu Thakur of the BJP secured 6,87,622 votes with a vote share of 48.85 per cent, defeating Mamata Thakur of AITMC by a margin of 1,11,594 votes, making it a Trinamool Congress stronghold in the constituency. put an end to it.

In the 2014 elections, AITMC’s Kapil Krishna Thakur secured 43.28 per cent vote share or 5,51,213 votes, defeating CPI(M)’s Devesh Das by a narrow margin of 1,46,601 votes.

In 2009, AITMC’s Govinda Chandra Nathkar had secured 5,46,596 votes, or a vote share of 50.69 per cent, defeating CPI(M)’s Asim Bala by a narrow margin of 92,826 votes.

The counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will take place on June 4.
