At the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum (ZGC Forum), which opened on Thursday, major scientific and technological achievements were announced.
The 10 achievements announced at the forum’s opening ceremony in Beijing focus on multiple areas including photoelectric chips, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, green energy, and brain-machine interfaces (BMI).
At the forum, a demonstration revealed an astonishing feat in which a monkey with its hands restrained and soft filament electrodes implanted in its brain was able to control a solitary robotic arm and grab a strawberry through its “thoughts” .
The NeuCyber Array BMI system was jointly developed by the China Brain Research Institute (CIBR) in Beijing and NeuCyber NeuroTech (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

A research team led by Professor Dai Qionghai of Tsinghua University has announced an all-analog optoelectronic intelligent computing chip.

This year’s five-day forum, themed “Innovating for a Better World,” consists of five main sections, including conferences and technology deals.
The ZGC Forum attracted participants from more than 100 countries and regions, and more than half of the speakers were from overseas, highlighting China’s commitment to opening up and innovation cooperation.
Zhongguancun, located in the northwest of Beijing, is home to more than 17,000 state-run high-tech enterprises. It is China’s first national high-tech industrial development zone and is known as “China’s Silicon Valley.”
