Islamabad: In a heinous incident, a Pakistani man threw his two daughters into a canal in Chechawatni after an argument with his wife, ARY News reported.
About the tragedy
Fahim Javed, who has two daughters aged eight and 10, had been arguing with his wife over maintenance costs. Rescue teams said the eight-year-old was rescued but the 10-year-old drowned in deep water, ARY News reported.
Police said Fahim Javed, a resident of Kallar Kahar, had been arrested and a case has been registered at Sadar police station. The suspect, who was a resident of Kallar Kahar, was having a dispute with his wife over maintenance fees.

In addition, his wife has also filed a petition in court seeking maintenance, according to a report by ARY News. Pakistan has seen a spate of horrific incidents of families being killed over petty arguments and financial issues.

In a similar incident, a man killed his two wives and four children over financial disputes in Faisalabad on May 3. The incident took place in Gulshan-e-Madinah Colony in Faisalabad, ARY News reported.
According to police reports, 50-year-old suspect Kazim Jawad first shot his wife, then killed his four children, including three daughters and a son, before turning the gun on himself. Police said Kazim’s extreme actions were driven by successive losses in his business and mounting debts.
Shortly after the incident, neighbours heard gunshots and called police.
Police who arrived at the scene took the body into custody and shifted it to a hospital for autopsy, according to ARY News.
