Alvin Brooks posted a photo of a private jet to his Instagram story on Friday morning, writing, “Delayed by fog but on my way to see the upcoming Cats,” and put BBN into flight tracking mode.
Soon after, fans learned the plane was on its way to Colorado Springs via Provo, Utah.
So the question was: Who would I meet in Colorado?
Now, Brooks is reportedly on his way to inspect the USA U-18 training camp along with Mark Pope, which will feature some of the Kentucky Wildcats’ top prospects in the 2025 class.
With Jasper Johnson, Caleb Wilson, Merik Thomas, Malachi Moreno and several other UK targets, Mark Pope and his new assistant head coach are looking to fill out a big board for his first full recruiting class on staff and are taking advantage of any time they can to take a look at these players.
Even more unique is the opportunity to attend this camp on their own time. Luckily, because this is a national team event coached by Division I coaches, NCAA rules allow coaches to attend. The training camp is coached and run by Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd, so this was a free game for Kentucky staff to attend and evaluate.
With the Colorado trip part set, who was he going to see in Provo? Maybe Pope was going to visit his old team. He wasn’t able to see Jackson Robinson due to the hiatus, and some have speculated that Robinson was the reason for Pope’s trip.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
