west indies Won 136/2 (Matthews 78, Campbell 33*, Iqbal 1-24) Pakistan 134 for 8 (Ameen 48, Muneebah 25, Fletcher 3-17) (8 wickets apart)

Hayley Matthews ended Pakistan’s dream tour with another stellar performance as she powered West Indies to an eight-wicket win in Karachi. Hitting 78 off 59 balls, the West Indies captain breezed through Pakistan’s first innings total of 134, with the visiting team arriving with 10 balls to spare. West Indies won the series 4-1.
West Indies proved that their indifferent performance on Thursday was insane and they were in it from the moment they won the toss and put Pakistan into bat. Pakistan got off to a bright start with an opening partnership of 38 runs in five overs, with Sidra Ameen and Muneeb Ali effectively rebuilding after Kiana Joseph cleaned up Ayesha Zafar after a 16-ball 22. By the 12th over, the hosts were in pretty good shape at 84-1 and were ostensibly geared up for a big finish.

But the West Indies, led by leg-spinner Afi Fletcher, engineered the fall of an all-powerful Pakistan. The only other player to score in double figures after the top three was Rameen Shamim, whose unbeaten 11-ball 16 in the closing stages helped Pakistan cross the 130-point mark. Pakistan lost seven wickets for 37 runs, with Fletcher, Joseph and Matthews all scoring and their innings strangled until Shamim’s final over was successful. Sidra top-scored Pakistan with a 52-ball 48.

But West Indies had momentum and never really gave it up. Matthews started cautiously again, allowing an early jab from Rashada Williams. Sadia Iqbal dismissed her in the fifth over but Pakistan’s hopes of another comeback were ultimately dashed as Shemaine Campbell emerged and forged a 103-run partnership with Matthews. Towards the end of that inning, Matthews seemed to be finding his limits at will, with 11 of them sprinkled throughout the 50-plus innings as his team charged toward a goal that suddenly seemed inappropriate. helped me do it. Campbell, on the other hand, was undefeated in 33 of 35 matches and was content to play second fiddle to the masters in full flow.

Pakistan managed to get Matthews out one last time in the series with Nashra Sandhu hitting the stumps back. But by then, Matthews’ job was done, with West Indies needing just seven more of his to win.
