(NewsNation) — Jewish-American rapper and reggae artist Matisyahu says fellow hip-hop star Macklemore’s new song “Hind’s Hole” is part of the current “cool” movement that Matisyahu calls pro-Palestinian views. ”, criticized for taking a pro-Palestinian position. online.

Ten years ago, Macklemore himself drew criticism for wearing blatantly stereotypical Jewish costumes during performances.

In a Wednesday interview on NewsNation’s “Dan Abrams Live,” Matisyahu said his show, where the venue was sold out hours before the start time, was canceled due to threats of protest against the Grammy-nominated musician. He said it was suddenly canceled.

Stephen Breyer: In my experience, SCOTUS judges are not “political”

Matisyahu said recent tour cancellations in cities including Chicago stemmed from his outspoken support for Israel’s right to exist.

“This is just an attempt to silence people who don’t think like us, which is the complete opposite of protesting,” Matisyahu said.

The beatboxing singer-songwriter expressed bewilderment that a message of peace through music could cause such a backlash.

“My only crime is that I believe that Israel has a right to exist and that Jews have a right to the land of Israel,” Matisyahu said.

Despite the cancellation, Matisyahu vowed that the protests would not prevent him from making his voice heard.
